Animation project

My decision for the animation project was to start a new one seeing as the old one i did was way duller and not exactly very eye-catching. My new idea is going to involve my main character from the story: Sagittarius (I've put a few things related to that idea already).

The animation itself is going to be a face-paced chase scene and an eventually short action scene where my character fights an Aswang. (a creature of greek mythology that savors children organs) I want to try utilize a simple set up with as little dialogue if possible.

Stop motion project

We sussed our stop motion team today as:

Traci
Me
Ryan
Anna

So i pitched the idea that we design one character and throughout our animation, we'll have him travel around and as s/he does, they enter different universes where e.g- He goes from being a silhouette universe into a cut-out animation world. My team liked the idea so its green light.

We need to begin brainstorming the script and story for the character and choose the different worlds where he travels through. Then we need to draw out the storyboard and get to work on the actual animation.

Some idea pooling

I was just thinking the other how as a year one animation class on a whole. The vast majority of us wouldn't actually be able to animate a scene in the same style as we haven't yet gained that skill to drawing 100% accurately to what we might be trying to do? So i thought well so be it then, why don't we use the same character but portrayed in different styles as it passes through the different stages of the animation? Surely enough i looked online and found something close to what i described in the above and i plan to show this video to my teammates this following week.

Refernces for comics and animation

Well when making an animation or comic you have to be spending a lot of time on, one would usually look towards things that they find visually pleasing and attractive then take their idea and build off it.

For me, I like artworks influenced by both the Asian and western cultures particularly pleasing to my eye. Such as Legend of korra and etc..

From shows like Young justice, Batman brave and the bold to Tokyo ghoul, Attack on titan and the list kinda goes on and on.

First concepts for the project- Saggitaurus

The picture on the left was the first sketch I did sometime last year

Scrap

its and pieces done during the holidays. But keep in mind the words: ART BLOCK was a huge problem for me during the few days I was at my other home.

BDM 124

We watched a series of different stop motion videos today during our class and we're supposed to be make our own stop motion videos. So, after I quickly skimmed through the internet I soon found a pretty useful website stating 6 different forms of stop motion.

They are as following:

Claymation
Puppet animation
Cut-out animation
Pixilation
Object animation
and Silhouette animation

I'm not absolutely confirmed but I think id like to have a go and try my luck at cut out animations? Definitely a topic up for debate though.

My inspirations - Animation

I have and probably always will admire the fluent and fast paced action scenes from the tv series 'legend of korra'. I personally got in contact and have been talking with some of the key animators of this series and I have to say without a shot over doubt that Korra was one of the biggest factors that got me hyped up enough to begin drawing back in 2011.
